Two years of 4G Telecom LIVE January 2019 18 www.telecomlive.com W ithin 2 years of the aggressive launch of 4G services by Reliance Jio (Sep 2016 to Sep 2018), the number of 4G customers in the country has crossed 38.74 crore (table-1) providing 4G-LTE access to over 88 per cent of the popula- tion. Maharashtra has the highest number of 4G subscribers. Also, the internet & broadband penetra- tion in rural area has reached 19.48 per cent, with Himachal Pradesh at the top (table-2). Telecom minister Manoj Sinha stated this in the Parliament.
