The findings are given in table-2. It shows there were no call drops in Jio network, whereas all other operators experienced call drop. In the last two quarters, Trai has imposed a total of Rs 58 lakh as penalty on various operators for notmeetingQoS norms (table-3). About 9.74 lakh additional BTS have been added by TSPs since Jul 2015 taking the total BTS count in the country to about 20.07 lakh in Nov 2018. In the last 20 months (Feb 2017 to Dec 2018), a total of 64,566 towers have been added (table-4). The TSPs have installed towers on the border area also (ta- ble-5). In order to obtain direct feed- back from subscribers, DoT has rai has been receiving T complaints for call drops from consumers of various Telecom Se r v i c e P r ov i de r s (TSPs). Bharti Airtel tops the list with 543 complaints in CY 2018 (table-1). In order to assess the network quality of mobile services of TSPs, Trai has been regularly conducting Independent Drive Tests (IDTs) in cities, highways & rail routes. Effective from Oct 1, 2017, Trai introduced two revised parameters - Drop Call Rate (DCR) Spatial Distribution Measure (benchmark ≤ 2%) andDCRTemporal Distribu- tion Measure (benchmark ≤ 3%) - for assessing call drop in mobile network providing 2G/3G/4G-LTE services at Base Transceiver Sta- tion (BTS) level.
