CII Summit www.telecomlive.com 51 TelecomLIVE April 2024 But, why stop there, we have seen people starting to see artificial IoT replaced by artificial intelligence. If it's combinedwith AR/VRheadsets with IoT, for example in the con- struction, you can see a digital twin of the site when you are moving in. Even after the construction, the pipes etc are hidden. You can see themstill if the headsets are still on, based on the sensors and where the issues are and fix them. If you com- bine vision AI in your factory, then the conveyor belt and person oper- ating AI vision can see the backlog so that it can slow down or fast- track it. We need to think of convergence because you have the problem and different technologies from the pack of fourth industrial revolu- tion, work together and converge. The increased convergence of these technologies and satellite data can be unlocked with AI for earth observation, can be used inmining, AI chains etc. So, all this is converg- ing and it is the fourth revolution. India missed the first revolution which happened in Europe and we were left behind. We must not miss this fourth revolution. The PM is aware of this fourth revolution and th announced the centre for 4 revolu- tion in India. But, we have to see this technology convergence as one thing, IoT off course is one part of it. Also, other technologies which are converging and use cases are being built depending on technologies that can b e bu i l t t o g e t h e r under one solution. In manufacturing different people are doing different things and pilots trying to implement different technologies in their manufacturing plants and supply chains. But, the WEF saw a gap of complete sup- ply chain transforma- tion based on these technologies. So, we launched global light- house projects which take application from the leaders to figure out their entire supply chain transformation for the technolo- gies and make that available to others through the networks. We as an industry need to be on top of the technology to stay relevant and competitive. In the supply chain, there are different types of solution being implemented but these technolo- gies are being implemented in the silos kind of informations systems. So, are they talking to each other in silos supply chain? If we want to be a part of the global supply chain then we need to build data founda- tion that will be tapped into some of these companies which are at the bleeding edge of the revolution. For example: initially Amazon didn't have any idea about the data they have and what are they going to do about it. They were collecting where people are clicking, order- ing, returning but basically captur- ing everything. But now they know what they are doing with it. So, having these sensors, data founda- tion is really important. IoT will be the generator even with AI, block chain, AR/VR technologies. We need a solid data foundation and as business we should build it today. We might or might not understand full implication of it now but we need to be doing that nonetheless. We are going into an era where have to thrive in this world which is becoming increasingly more com- plex, you really must have the abil- ity to cut through the complexity get unprecedented v i s ibi l i ty around your enterprise value chain so that you can innovate faster than competition. The digital technolo- gies, IoT, convergence is laying the foundation for that to happen. But what is creating the big unlock is the analytic which indus- try has already begun to utilize. Though it is at early stages but in last few years, those who adopted these technologies, particularly into analytics, are already report- ing some game changing impact on their businesses. The industry is beginning to learn. It is a transfor- mation and already seeing very promising sign of Indian industry adopting it. The only way forward for us to gain that game changing impact in the level of competitive- ness so that we not only survive but thrive in this environment. India missed first revolution and left behind, we must not miss the 4th revolution Jasmeet Khurana, World Economic Forum IoT is the convergence of three technologies - fast and low latency internet, compute and sensors.
